THIS SITE WILL BE OPEN FOR LOCAL VOLUNTEERS ONLY. We will not be able to provide overnight accommodations.
We ask that volunteers arrive at the site at 7:30 am or 12:30 pm MDT. We will be working Monday – Saturday. We will have volunteers working on Sunday afternoon, June 30, 2013.
Volunteers MUST wear long pants and hard soled work boots. Volunteers will not be allowed to work if they do not have appropriate attire.
Please also bring a bagged lunch, water, work gloves and any hand tools you may have. It will also be helpful to bring trash cans and sifters if you have them.
Skills Needed: Volunteers will be assisting homeowners by removing debris and sifting through the ashes searching for valuables and keepsakes. There are no specific skills required for this response, though volunteers will need to be able to do manual labor.
Project Description: Wildfires broke out Tuesday, June 11, in the Colorado Springs area and continued to rage even days later. More than 500 homes have been destroyed in the Black Forest Fire, with more than 200 families seeking assistance from local authorities.
A Volunteer Registration form is not required for this response.
